The Bad Brother was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.

Description

Naoe and Yasuke travels to Byodoin Temple to meet the head of the Ise clan.

Dialogue

Naoe and Yasuke entered the temple and complex and found a monk with his servant.

• Servant: Our lord is not well. What business do you have?

Naoe and Yasuke approached the monk, who was clearly sick.

• Ise Sadatame: They are curt, though they mean well. (coughs) (wheezes) These are not friendly times.
• Naoe/Yasuke: I am looking for Lord Ise Sadatame.
• Ise Sadatame: (wheezes) You have found him. (wheezes) You had better come inside. (coughs)

Naoe and Yasuke entered the temple building with Sadatame.

• Ise Sadatame: (wheezes) You must forgive my servants. They (wheezes) thought you were sent by my brother.
• Yasuke: Your clan name... Your brother is Ise Sadaoki, Mitsuhide's son-in-law.
• Ise Sadatame: You know him?
• Naoe: We've met. Hes' not very easy to forget.
• Ise Sadatame: (wheezes) Ah. Then you know what he has become, though he was not always that way. We were once close. Until he (wheezes) did this.
• Naoe: Sadaoki did that?
• Ise Sadatame: (wheezes) He poisoned me. And when I was sick, he took control of our clan. Now he commands whatever Lord Mitsuhide bids. (coughs) It has caused us shame, and anger, as you saw.
• Yasuke: You do not support Lord Mitsuhide?
• Ise Sadatame: Do you?
• Naoe: Mitsuhide murdered my father. I will see him dead first.
• Ise Sadatame: (wheezes) Ah! Then we can speak plainly with each other.
• Naoe: You said there has been trouble with your brother.
• Ise Sadatame: (sighs) Trouble upon trouble. Sadaoki has joined a group under a secret name led by Mitsuhide. Do you know it?
• Yasuke: The Shinbakufu.
• Ise Sadatame: Yes. (coughs) I thought I could reason with him. I sent letters persuading him to break with Mitsuhide.
• Naoe: If he is Shinbakufu, you cannot save him.

Sadatame sat down by a table.

• Ise Sadatame: You may be right. (wheezes) But he is my brother. I had to try. But my messenger was attacked outside Arashiyama, and Sadaoki's reply stolen.
• Naoe: We have only your word. What if you are also Shinbakufu?
• Ise Sadatame: If you recover the letter, you will see that what I say is true.
• Yasuke: And what of your brother then?
• Ise Sadatame: If he refuses my counsel, I will go with you to Yamazaki Castle to confront him. It is my duty. But we will need help. I have an ally, a samurai from the castle guard who is hiding at Kiyomizudera Temple. His name is Ujimasa, a good man. If you win his trust, he has knowledge that will help us.
• Naoe: Thank you. Understand that when we go to your brother, it will not be to reason with him.
• Ise Sadatame: I still hope it will not come to that.

Naoe and Yasuke bid farewell with a bow and left the temple

Outcome

Naoe and Yasuke met Ise Sadatame, Sadaoki's brother who was poisoned by the latter to seize control of the clan. Sadatame directed the two to recover his letter to Sadaoki and recruit his ally Ujimasa to gain access to Yamazaki Castle, Sadaoki's stronghold.
