Sake and Swords was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.

Description

Naoe encounters Gennojo during by chance in a village in Yamashiro.

Dialogue

South of the Byodoin Temple, Naoe found Gennojo, seemingly drunk and causing nuisance in a rural village, with a small crowd around him.

• Gennojo: I stole these things for you. Cowards! Just take them!
• Woman: Get out of here, Gennojo!

Naoe approached and talked to Gennojo.

• Gennojo: Couldn't stay away from me, could you?
• Naoe: Shut up! All of Yamashiro can hear you.
• Gennojo: (scoffs) Want a shiny new katana? I stole it from a fat samurai in Kyoto.
• Naoe: No.
• Gennojo: Ah... Then you're here for another type of sword perhaps?
• Naoe: The only blade I see here is worn and dull.
• Gennojo: Well I'm sure we can find a whetstone around here somewhere.
• Naoe: Keep it sheathed.
• Gennojo: These villagers work longer hours than the sun. Then tax collectors and samurai ride in. They take more and more rice each year. Villagers can't argue, they're left with barely enough to survive.
• Naoe: And this is your solution? Drinking and stealing and yelling?
• Gennojo: It's better than -

Just then, a samurai came and interrupted both of them.

• Samurai: You are dead, thief!
• Naoe: I told you to shut up!
• Gennojo: Finally!

Two samurai attacked Naoe and Gennojo.

• Samurai: You'll pay with your life!
• Gennojo: Look how mad you're getting!
• Samurai Duelist: He replaced my statue with a sack of horse shit!
• Gennojo: Tell your wives Gennojo says hello!
• Samurai Duelist: Kill him! He pissed on my bed!
• Gennojo: Watching you cut down samurai is making me hot!
• Naoe: Shut your mouth and fight.

Naoe and Gennojo killed the two samurai. She watched as the thief took a closer look at one of the bodies.

• Naoe: Did you know him?

Gennojo pissed on the samurai's body.

• Gennojo: Nope. But I knew his wife. (laughs)
• Naoe: Ugh.
• Gennojo: What? Samurai are bullies. Assholes who get off killing poor farmers.
• Naoe: I happen to know a very honorable samurai. One I've come to call friend.
• Gennojo: Friends? (scoffs) Samurai don't have friends, they have corrupt warlords.
  Why don't you let me show you what a good friend I can be.

As Gennojo got closer to Naoe, the kunoichi stepped away.

• Naoe: You smell like death and piss.
• Gennojo: That's what rivers are for.

Naoe pushed him.

• Naoe: You should fine one then, the stench is unbearable.
• Gennojo: Fine. meet me in Kyoto. At the tax collector's house. I'll smell like the first sakura of spring. And I'll show you who the real thieves are.
• Naoe: I'm sure you will.

Gennojo then left the area.

Outcome

Naoe met Gennojo after the events in Yamazaki Castle, unwilling defending him against a pair of samurai. The thief asked Naoe to meet him at a tax collector's house in Kyoto.
