Apple of Eden #5 was a Piece of Eden, a piece of ancient and technologically advanced equipment created by the First Civilization to control humankind, their workforce.

Modern Times
Templars discovered the Apple on the moon in the late 18th century, but how long it was there is unknown. According to Clay Kaczmarek, "something was up there, something abandoned long ago."[2]
After the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy at the hands of the Templars, and the Templars' subsequent recovery of Kennedy's Apple, the Templar Lyndon B. Johnson rose to the position of President.[3]
Though Kennedy was targeted because many of his policies were against the Templar agenda, another possible reason is that he wished to create a joint space program with the Soviets. The Templars knew by then that the moon was the location of an Apple of Eden, and decided to ensure it would fall into their hands alone.[3]
The Apollo Project was set up by Templars in the effort to reach the moon, and secure the Piece of Eden that rested there. Though they recovered the Apple on July 20, 1969, its current status is unknown.[2]
