World War I (1914 - 1918), also known as the First World War, The War to end war (sometimes called The war to end all wars) and the Great War until 1939, was an armed military conflict initially between several European nations and their colonial empires, which soon expanded to include a number of countries from across the globe.
The war was caused due to four reasons, including Nationalism: the love and pride for a person's country, Imperialism: the build-up of Empires, and Militarialism: the build-up of a certain army, such as the expansion for more soldiers. Archduke Franz Ferdinad was assinated in Austria by an extreme-Serbian nationalist therefore the term 'Assassination' was one of the main reasons too. Everyone was involved due to the act of alliances. On August the 4th 1914, Britain declared war on Germany as a response for Germany declaring war on Britain's allies.
Principally, the conflict was fought between the Triple Entente that was Britain, France, and Russia, and the Triple Alliance of Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary.
This conflict, like so many before and after it, was heavily influenced by the ongoing Assassin-Templar War, with members of each Order fighting on either side. Most famously, during the Christmas Truce of 1914, a Templar named Erich Albert, General in the German Army, was assassinated by a British Assassin just moments after the two had worked together to save a wounded soldiers life.
