A skirmish during the conflict

The Spanish Civil War was a civil war in Spain fought from 1936 to 1939 between the Republicans and the Nationalists. Republicans were loyal to the legitimate goverment of Spain, and consisted of a united group of ideologically diverse parties, ranging from liberals to socialists and anarchists. The opposing Nationalists were an alliance of Falangists, monarchists, conservatives and traditionalists led by a military junta among whom General Francisco Franco eventually achieved a preponderant role. The Nationalists won the war, which ended in early 1939, and ruled Spain until Franco's death in 1975.[1]

At least five Assassins, Ignacio Cardona, Dwight Adams, Glaucia Acosta, Miguel Carasso and Norbert Clarke participated in the conflict on the Republicans' side.[2] Cardona also fought alongside the Templars' former Black Cross Albert Bolden.[3]
