The Assault on Cyne Belle Castle was an assault in 874 undertook by Mercian troops loyal to thegn Geadric against Cyne Belle Castle, controlled by Lady Eadwyn, the wife of the late ealdorman Theodric who allied with King Aelfred of Wessex.

Geadric was aided in the assault by a company consisting of Sigurd Styrbjornsson, Basim and Fulke, whose real intention was to recover a piece of relic in Eadwyn's possession that belonged to a race of precursor beings.[1]
