The Trienio Liberal was a period of 3 years from 1820 to 1823 during which a liberal government ruled Spain. This period began after a military uprising ousted King Ferdinand VII of Spain in 1820 and ended when a French army invaded Spain in 1823 and reinstated the King's absolute power.
