I wanted to ask you something. Which is... what's your name? This article title is conjecture. Although the article subject is canon, no official name for it has been given. |
The Austrian Brotherhood of Assassins was the branch of Assassins located in Vienna, Austria.
History
In 1851, the Irish Assassin, Oscar Kane, who was stationed in Vienna, issued a fellow Assassin, Henri Escoffier, to board a Royal Navy frigate, the HMS Birkenhead, to assassinate a target aboard and find a potential recruit, Simeon Price.[1][2] However, Kane had begun his work with the Templars of the Austrian Rite during his time in Vienna. By 1852, Kane had welcomed an apprentice, Simeon, who took on the alias, "Jack Straw," for his businesses.[3]
Within two years, Kane began to teach Price how to be an Assassin,[4] as well as come into contact with the Austrian Templars.[5][6] In 1853, unknown to Price, Kane, under the guise of the "Magus," had pushed a Hungarian tailor, János Libényi, to assassinate the Emperor Franz Joseph, but the attempt failed.[6] To cover his tracks, Kane tried to save the tailor with Price but ultimately failed as János was later hanged.[7]
By 1854, Price had grown disillusioned with Kane and his teachings of the Brotherhood and left his mentor, in order to work through his own issues.[8]
