- "Past, present, and future. Kneel to the Cultists of Kosmos."
- ―Exekias[src]
Exekias the Legend (died c. 420s BCE) was a Boeotian mercenary and the Sage of the Heroes of the Cult branch of the Cult of Kosmos during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography
At some point during or before the Peloponnesian War, Exekias sent one his Adepts, Belos to fight in the Pephka Arena. After defeating several warriors, Exekias sent them to Belos who boasted of his need for a challenge.[1]
At the height of the war, Exekias was hired by both Athens and Sparta to fight in the south. In a letter to Pallas, he ordered him to hold Achaia himself or die trying.[2]
He was killed by the Spartan misthios Kassandra during her quest to destroy the Cult. Exekias was the top undefeated mercenary before encountering Kassandra, having been the oldest, and most successful one in said career, explaining his epithet, 'The Legend'.[3]
Personality and traits
In Exekias' correspondences with his underlings his was shown to be blunt and to the point. On one occasion he sent Belos warriors to fight him, to give him a challenge as he had wished, although he had most likely counted on them killing him.[1]
He also seemed unable to tolerate any sign of weakness, as shown when denying Pallas' need for help holding Achaia, ordering him to hold the region himself or die in the process.[2]
Equipment and skills
Exekias wielded a large mace in combat, and wore a golden variant of the Brute's Helm. The mercenary also had a bear companion who fought beside him.[3]
Trivia
- It is also possible, through rigorous leveling, to find and kill Exekias before Elpenor. This can potentially make Exekias the player’s first cultist kill before even discovering the Cult of Kosmos.
