Starrick Industries was a front-company for the British Rite of the Templar Order that existed in London during the Industrial Revolution. Owned by the Templar Grand Master Crawford Starrick, who inherited it from his father, Starrick Industries started out as a small firm producing locomotive components.[1]
The company grew under Crawford's control into a diverse corporate empire encompassing at least three subsidiary firms; namely, the Starrick Telegraph Company, which held a near-total monopoly on London's telegraph communications;[2] the Starrick Brewing Company, which was behind the production of the drug concoction Starrick's Soothing Syrup sold by unscrupulous street peddlers;[3][4] and an undisclosed omnibus company which entered into fierce competition with both Attaway Transport and the Millner Company.[5]
Starrick was ruthless towards his employees, and installed Rupert Ferris as a manager in order to maximize profit and keep spending to a minimum.[6][7] Despite this, following the death of Philip Twopenny and the theft of printing plates from the Bank of England, which caused a brief economic crisis, Starrick raised the wages of his workers to counter the threat of inflation.[8] In late 1868, Starrick himself was killed by the twin Assassins Jacob and Evie Frye, leaving Starrick Industries leaderless and bringing an end to its dominion over the London industry.[9]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The emblem of Starrick Industries and its various subsidiaries is the head of a wolf. Wolves have been frequently associated with the Templars throughout the Assassin's Creed series, both in the names of certain memories and in iconography, similarly to how eagles are commonly associated with the Assassins.
Starrick Industries shares similarities with Abstergo Industries, both in their names and their roles as front companies for the Templar Order.
