History
Antiquity

The city was founded sometime in the 19th century BCE. After being conquered several times, it was finally possessed by King David. David's successor, Solomon, built a temple which guarded the Ark of the Covenant.

High Middle Ages
*1735: Tom Barrett, Edith, Edward Kenway and two British soldiers were murdered by mercenaries hired by Reginald Birch, who stole Kenway's journal and kidnapped his daughter Jennifer Scott.
*1773: Stephane Chapheau went on a rampage against British troops in Boston after his money was stolen. Ratonhnhaké:ton defended him but also admonished him for his behavior, instructing him to seek out and only kill the leader of William Johnson's men. Afterwards, Connor invited him to join the Colonial Assassins.

In the early 12th century, the Templar Bernard de Clairvaux sent nine trusted men to find Solomon's Temple beneath Jerusalem. When these men returned nine years later, he reinvented the Order into a knightly organization. This organization became known as the Knights Templar, allowing the Templars to become public for the first time since their Order's founding.[1]
;4 December
*1725: Haytham Kenway was born to Tessa and Edward Kenway in London.
*1733: Haytham celebrated his eighth birthday at White's Chocolate House, where his father Edward introduced him to their property manager Reginald Birch. On the way home, Birch defended Tessa Kenway from a mugger, but Edward stopped him just short of killing him.
*1783: George Washington dissolved the Continental Army at the Fraunces Tavern in New York.

Jerusalem was the largest city in the Holy Land during the 12th century and housed exquisite mosques and cathedrals, which denoted the contrast of the cultures present. The city was under the control of Sultan Saladin and his Saracen army during the Third Crusade, while the Crusaders under King Richard I were vying heavily to take control of the holy city.[2]
;5 December
*2012: Warren Vidic called Dr. Sung to check on Daniel Cross's condition.

By the time of the Third Crusade, the city secretly housed both Templars and Assassins. In 1191, a group of Templars led by their Grand Master Robert de Sable and a team of Assassins composed of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and the brothers Malik and Kadar Al-Sayf infiltrated Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem, to obtain an "Apple of Eden" – an artifact that was hidden deep inside the temple – atop the Ark of the Covenant.
;6 December
*2012: Laetitia England promoted Juhani Otso Berg to the rank of Master Templar.

When both factions met, it resulted in a conflict that led to the death of Kadar and the severe wounding of Malik's arm, though Malik was successfully able to bring the Apple of Eden back to the headquarters of the Levantine Assassins in Masyaf.[2]
;7 December
*1843: Jayadeep Mir was born to the Asssassin Arbaaz Mir and princess Pyara Kaur.
*2012: Juno revealed to Desmond Miles that the First Civilization hoped to protect themselves by placing the Apples of Eden into orbit.

Throughout the rest of the year, in order to redeem his failure due to his arrogance and disregard for the Assassins' Creed, Altaïr assassinated several clandestine Templars who worked inside Jerusalem. He did so with the help of Malik Al-Sayf, who had become the Rafiq of the city's Assassins' Bureau.
;8 December
*1991: The Belavezha Accords were signed, dissolving the Soviet Union.
*2012: William Miles went to recover a First Civilization battery from Egypt so his son Desmond would concentrate on finding the Grand Temple Key.

Among these Templars was Talal, a slave trader, and Majd Addin, the regent of Jerusalem in Saladin's absence. Ultimately, Altaïr also attempted to take the life of Robert de Sable during Majd Addin's funeral; however, he failed due to Robert having taken precautions and disguising his fellow Templar Maria Thorpe as himself to act as a decoy.[2]
;9 December
*2012: William Miles recovered a First Civilization battery from a museum in Cairo.

When Altaïr, who by 1257 had become the Mentor of the Levantine Assassins, dispersed the Assassin Order from Masyaf,[3] they shifted their primary presence in the Levant to Jerusalem, working in secret.[4]
;10 December
Renaissance
*1735: Edward Kenway was buried in London. Afterwards, Reginald Birch revealed to Haytham he was a Templar, and that he would be accompanying Haytham to find his half-sister Jenny in Europe.
*2010: Shaun Hastings sent WikiLeaks several confidential Abstergo documents under the name "Guy Fawkes". Abstergo captured him, but he escaped with Rebecca Crane's intervention.

By the time that the Renaissance had begun spreading throughout Europe, the Mamluks ruled over Jerusalem. Unlike the Saracens, the Mamluks directly opposed the Assassins and attempted to erase their presence from within the city.
;11 December
*1735: Reginald Birch introduced Haytham Kenway to Edward Braddock, who would be in-charge of finding Jack Digweed, whom Haytham suspected of betraying Edward Kenway.

In 1511, the Mamluks arrested the Assassins' leader Mujir in order to intimidate them, but their attempt failed when he was rescued by a group of Ottoman Assassins sent from Constantinople by the Mentor of the Italian branch of the Assassin Order, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. With help from the Ottoman Assassins, Jerusalem eventually came under strong Assassin control and flourished due to it.[4]
;12 December
Modern times
*2000: The United States Supreme Court, under the Templar Antonin Scalia's lead, declared George W. Bush as having won the Presidential election.
*2012: William Miles was captured by Juhani Otso Berg's team in Cairo and taken to Rome, where Warren Vidic recorded a ransom video for Desmond Miles, demanding Ezio's Apple of Eden in exchange for his father.

In 2012, part of the city functioned as a simulated training location for the second stage of the Animi Training Program, included within a system update.
;14 December
*2010: After Lucy Stillman expressed concern for Subject 15's health, Warren Vidic gave her the day off and then ordered a disposal unit.
*2012: Daniel Cross and Warren Vidic were assassinated by Desmond Miles in Rome, who rescued his father William.

The simulation depicted the Dome of the Rock and its surrounding area, which, aside from the occasional building, largely consisted of tents and market stalls that sold various goods and produce. Decorative archways were a common sight.
;16 December
*1740: The War of the Austrian Succession began, forcing Reginald Birch and Haytham Kenway to put off their search for Jennifer Scott and to settle in a château near Troyes.
*1773: The Boston Tea Party took place.
*2013: Abstergo Entertainment obtained a blood sample from Milton Jones, and with it the memories of his ancestor Adéwalé.

Jerusalem, like most of the simulated locations in the first and second stage, had two aesthetic variations. As such, it could be utilized during the day or at dusk.
;17 December
Districts
*1991: Mikhail Gorbachev relinquished power to Boris Yeltsin.
Poor District
*2012: Juno showed Desmond Miles how her husband Aita volunteered for an experiment that would enable the First Civilization to survive the Toba catastrophe. Meanwhile, Daniel Cross was buried in Rome.
*2013: Gavin Banks and Emmanuel Barraza met with the Assassin cell in Osaka, discovering that they had taken up the guise of the Onmoraki-Gumi.

The Poor District of Jerusalem was the smallest of the city, with a large amount of alleyways and low buildings. Guards were fairly spread across the area, while the traffic moving through the streets was relatively clear.
;18 December
*2012: Juno revealed to Desmond Miles that the First Civilization sought to transfer their consciousnesses into new vessels.

The main features of the district included a mosque, a southernmost church and a synagogue. These were all places that were generally alive with activity and provided a good source for information, which was valuable for Altaïr during his assassination tasks.
;19 December
*2012: William Miles ordered Harlan Cunningham to leave Vienna for Rotterdam.

It was in this district that Altaïr tracked his target, Majd Addin, to an execution that he was performing in its eastern side. This section contained a platform that was set against the rocky outcrop and walls of the Dome of the Rock, along with several high buildings that overlooked the area.[2]
;20 December
Middle District
*2012: Desmond Miles excavated the Grand Temple Key from Connor Davenport's grave in the Davenport Homestead, Massachusetts.

The Middle District was a medium-sized district that was fairly spaced out with guards and civilians. The most significant landmarks in the district included the hospital and guard tower, situated near to the edge of the district, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, located in the bottom half of the district.
;21 December
*1682: Jack Rackham was born in Port Royal, Jamaica.
*2012: Desmond Miles died to save the Earth from the solar flare by touching the Eye; however, he also released Juno from imprisonment in the Grand Temple.

Founded around 326 CE by Queen Helena, the church was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times during the Crusaders' occupation of Jerusalem in the 12th century. This district was also were the funeral of Majd Addin was held, in an area just behind the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Here, Altaïr attempted the eliminate the Grand Master of the Templar Order, Robert de Sable, but instead discovered he had been replaced by Maria Thorpe as a decoy.[2]
;24 December
Rich District
*1800: The Plot of the rue Saint-Nicaise: the French Assassins including Arno Dorian prevented an attempt on Napoleon Bonaparte's life, assassinating the ringleader François-Joseph Carbon.
*1914: Erich Albert was assassinated during the Christmas Truce of World War I.

The Rich District was easily the largest of the districts, dominating the city. Given its size, guards and civilians populated much the area. The buildings were relatively high, with a number of climbable viewpoints.
;25 December
*1776: George Washington and several Colonial Assassins including Ratonhnhaké:ton crossed the Delaware River and conquer Trenton, New Jersey.
*1991: Mikhail Gorbachev announced his resignation as President of the Soviet Union. Boris Yeltsin, a Templar puppet, remained President of Russia.
*2003: Vanessa made the Beagle 2 landing appear to be a failure so only Abstergo Industries could obtain the information it uncovered.

Several notable landmarks included the district's mosque, the markets that lined the border between the Jewish and Muslim quarters of the district, and Saint Anne's Church. However, the most prominent landmark in the district – and probably the entire city – was the Dome of the Rock.
;26 December
*1476: Galeazzo Maria Sforza, Duke of Milan, was assassinated by Giovanni Andrea Lampugnani, Gerolamo Olgiati and Carlo Visconti. Giovanni Auditore da Firenze attempted to question Lampugani, but the assassin was killed by Sforza's Moorish bodyguard before he had a chance.

Completed in 691 CE, the Dome of the Rock was situated atop the Temple Mount, and was the one of the holiest sites in the Islamic faith. Underneath the Temple Mount was the ancient temple of King Solomon, where the Ark of the Covenant was located, along with the Apple of Eden recovered by Altaïr and the brothers Malik and Kadar Al-Sayf.[2]
