The Isle of Skye is a large island off the Scottish mainland. It was primarily inhabited by the Picts before the Vikings expanded their rule and began settling the area.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Early history[edit | edit source]

The island has long been inhabited since Prehistoric times.[2] Prior to the Great Catastrophe, the Isu built a vault containing an Apple of Eden on the island, which was left untouched for thousands of years.[3]

Medieval period[edit | edit source]

Pictish tribes came to settle on the island during the early Medieval period which, at this time, was considered a place of passage for many travellers.[1] Beginning in the 9th century, the Norse came to settle on the island as well and established settlements along the coastlines. In the late 9th century, the misthios Kassandra visited the island during her quest to hunt down Pieces of Eden similar to the ones she had found in ancient Greece many centuries ago.[4]

Kassandra arriving on the Isle of Skye

Kassandra's presence unknowingly triggered the Apple of Eden hidden on the island, causing Skye's residents to be plagued by nightmares and illusions.[5] This led the island's seer Edyt to travel to Ravensthorpe in England to seek the aid of her friend Valka and the Raven Clan's jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir.[6] Sailing to the Isle of Skye, Eivor crossed paths with Kassandra and, despite some initial reluctance, they agreed to investigate the phenomenon together.[7]

Through their investigation, the two warriors found the Cave of Gold and a secret entrance into its Isu vault, which could only be unlocked through a pedestal requiring five keys. At that moment, Eivor and Kassandra were attacked by several villagers under the Apple of Eden's influence and, though they emerged victorious, Eivor became suspicious of Kassandra. After the misthios admitted that her presence was what might have activated the Piece of Eden, Eivor deemed her untrustworthy and ended their partnership.[5]

Eivor later recovered all the keys scattered across the Isle of Skye,[8] and returned to the Cave of Gold, gaining access to the Isu vault. Inside, she was attacked by more mind-controlled villagers but managed to defeat them with assistance from a returning Kassandra. The two then worked together to retrieve and deactivate the Apple of Eden, which Eivor gave to Kassandra, who presumably destroyed it.[3]

Eivor giving the Apple of Eden to Kassandra

With the "curse" lifted and the Isle of Skye saved, Eivor invited Kassandra to celebrate their victory by crashing a wedding in Kiltaraglen. Amidst the party, the misthios decided to silently leave the island, resuming her quest for the Pieces of Eden but ultimately parting ways with Eivor as friends. The jarlskona acknowledged her departure, and left the island herself not long after, returning to England.[9]

Modern times[edit | edit source]

By the 21st century, the Isle of Skye was the site of an uncompleted Abstergo Industries facility. Isaiah, both a Templar turncoat and defector from the Instruments of the First Will, briefly used the site around 2016 to locate the final prong of the Trident of Eden. When a Templar strike team moved in on the base, Isaiah used the two Trident pieces already in his possession to compel the team to reinforce his own group of followers. By the time a second taskforce arrived, Isaiah had already relocated to Sweden.[10]
