The Phaistos Disk

The Phaistos Disk was an Isu artifact which was used to gain access to the Labyrinth of Lost Souls under Knossos Palace, housing the Minotaur.

History[edit | edit source]

Housed in the palace in Phaistos Village,[1] the disk was taken and used by the Messaran Nikios to enter the Minotaur's labyrinth along with other men, looking for the rumoured treasures and riches within.[2] Afterwards, the disk was looked after by the caretaker of Nikios' son, Ardos, in their home.[3]

During the Peloponnesian War, Ardos stole the disk from his caretaker and fled. Later, he gave the disk to the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who used it to reopen the vault.[4]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Phaistos Disk was featured in one of Abstergo Entertainment's Crypto-History files, noting its similarity to the Memory Seals.

Like the other 'keys' to the Olympos Project lairs in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, the Phaistos Disk bears a resemblance to its real life counterpart. However, instead of the symbols being arranged in a spiral, the version in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey has them in two distinct wheels, around a center with a stylized icon of a bull's head.
