Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • In Greek mythology, Hephaistos was cared for by Thetis, the Nereid who was also the wife of Peleus and the mother of the hero Achilles. It was said that his forge was located on the island.
    • Another legend states that when Jason and the Argonauts arrived, all the island was inhabited by women, ruled by Hypsipyle. The Argonauts were content to stay on the island, but Herakles was so disgusted by the way his companions were acting that he persuaded them to leave.
