The Argonauts was a group consisting of various heroes and gods in Greek mythology who operated years before the Trojan War.

They were named for the ship they travelled in, the Argo, and were led by Jason in his quest to search for the Golden Fleece.

At some point, two among them visited Kephallonia, where they prayed at the temenos dedicated to the god Zeus for strength to defeat the creatures called harpies.
