The Hattori Mansion

The Hattori Mansion was the residence of the Hattori family, located in Mikawa Province, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

Hattori Hanzō grew up on the estate, where he witnessed the abuse that his father, Hattori Yasunaga, inflicted upon his mother over her perceived failures. At one point during Hanzō's childhood, he injured his knee after falling from a tree, leading Yasunaga to slap and reprimand Hanzō's mother for not watching him closely. Although Hanzō insisted that it was his fault and apologized, he would later come to agree with his father that his mother was a weak woman.[1]

In 1561, Hanzō returned home and met with his father to discuss his arrival. However, Yasunaga forwent formalities and asked about his shinobi training under Momochi Sandayu in Iga. When Hanzō tried to tell him about a recent attack on Iga, Yasunaga insisted that Hanzō leave Sandayu and return home permanently to become a samurai for their clan. Trying to keep his promise to Tsuyu, Hanzō refused and explained that he had made friends in Iga, to which Yasunaga called him weak and dismissed him. With this, Hanzō left the mansion and ventured out into the market to find any clues about the Templars.[1]
