Amano Kageyasu was a Japanese soldier of the Imagawa clan and later the Matsudaira clan who lived in Mikawa, Japan during the late Sengoku period.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1562, Amano Kageyasu worked as a foot soldier of the Imagawa clan under its daimyō Imagawa Ujizane. However, he soon became disillusioned and reluctant to work for this clan. One night, he slept in his quarters but soon woke up and noticed the arrival of a shinobi. Meeting each other, Kageyasu was nearly killed until he asked if he was here against the Imagawa's. When the shinobi Hattori Hanzō revealed his task of finding Sena and her children, Kageyasu offered to help, revealing his doubts of the clan's future. Escorting him across the grounds of Imagawa Mansion, he recounted the past of how Ujizane and Matsudaira Takechiyo were once close as brothers. However, he soon showed Hanzō the recent room where Sena was.[1]

Yet, Hanzō became overwhelmed after finding a dead woman and being found by Ujizane. Fortunately, Kageyasu knocked out the daimyō, saving Hanzō. Upon looking the dead woman, he reassured Hanzō that it was not Sena before they left to find her. However, the bell was rung and they fled quicker to escape any reinforcements. They later met up with Watanabe Moritsuna, who asked about Sena and the kids' location. When Hanzō admitted his failure, all three soon noticed Udono Nagateru riding past them whilst carrying Sena. Kageyasu informed him that Nagateru rode towards Kaminogō Castle. While Moritsuna stated they all should go, Hanzō told him and Kageyasu to head back to Takechiyo while he went to save Sena and the kids alone.[2]

Fortunately, Kageyasu saw Hanzō return with Sena and her kids, reuniting them with Takechiyo, and saw the Imagawa clan's loss to Takechiyo's siege of the castle. He later joined the Matsudaira clan as a result.[3]
