The Conqueror was a virtual representation of one of Kassandra's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description
With the King's edict in one hand and her spear in the other, Kassandra was tasked with conquering Boeotia for Sparta, making sure the Athenians didn't get there first.
Dialogue
Kassandra made her way to the camp in Boeotia and walked into the leader's tent.
- Kassandra: I'm looking for...
The leader turned to face her. and she recognized him as Stentor.
- Stentor: You!
- Kassandra: Stentor?
Stentor was instantly infuriated by her presence and punched her square in the nose. Kassandra staggered back.
Stentor grabbed his spear and readied to fight the misthios, but she drew her own and warned him off through a bloody nose.
She held up the writ from the two kings.
- Kassandra: King Archidamos of Sparta sent me to aid you in securing the region.
- Stentor: This is how much he trusts me—he put his faith in a fucking mercenary.
He walked to the cliff overlooking the region of Boeotia, with the city of Thebes in the distance. Kassandra cleaned up her nose.
- Stentor: The gods are punishing me with your presence.
- Kassandra: If I was your punishment, you'd already be dead.
- Stentor: Why have the kings sent you?
- Kassandra: King Archidamos sent me to conquer the Boeotians, since you clearly can't.
- Stentor: And yet he sent me a single traitorous mercenary.
- Kassandra: I missed my new brother so much that when Archidamos sent me here, I jumped at the chance.
- Stentor: Maláka! The Wolf would have ended the war if it weren't for you. Your help will bring nothing but misery.
(If players asked "What's the situation?")
- Kassandra: I'm here on business. What's going on?
- Stentor: Everything is fine. The Boeotian rebels are a problem, but nothing we can't handle.
(If players asked "Why are you here?")
- Kassandra: What is the Spartan army doing in Boeotia?
- Stentor: We sieged Athens, but Kleon took power and pushed us out. Taking Boeotia will weaken his position.
- Stentor: The Wolf was gone—I was needed. I couldn't abandon my men.
(If players chose "You should be glad I'm here.")
- Kassandra: You should thank the gods that I've come to help you.
- Stentor: The only reason you're still alive is that writ you carry. You're not an ally, just a weapon.
- Kassandra: Then put me to work.
- Stentor: You're not up to the challenge.
- Kassandra: Try me.
- Stentor: There are four Boeotian champions fighting for the Athenians: Aristaios, Deianeira, Nesaia, and Drakon.
- Stentor: Think you can kill them? I'd like to see you try.
- Kassandra: I told you we could work this out.
- Stentor:
- Kassandra: Why am I killing champions? I came to win a battle.
- Stentor: Either you complete this mission, or you die in the process. I will be satisfied either way.
(If players asked "Where will I find the champions?")
- Kassandra: Where will I find thise mighty Boeotians?
- Stentor: I only know of two—there are reports of Aristaios occupying the Military Fort of Gla. Nesaia was last seen in the forest east of Thebes.
(If players asked "Why are they helping Athens?")
- Kassandra: I thought the Boeotians hated everyone. Why are they working with Athens?
- Stentor: They see both Sparta and Athens as enemies—but Athens got here first, and they agreed to a temporary alliance.
(If players asked "What makes them so mighty?")
- Kassandra: What's so great about these champions? They're just four people against the Spartan military.
- Stentor: Sparta has its army, and Boeotia has its legends. They're a symbol of what this place used to be.
(Leave – "I have what I need.")
- Kassandra: The sooner I get this done, the sooner we take Boeotia for Sparta.
Stentor walked off without another word.
