Not All Treasure Should Be Found was a virtual representation of one of Kassandra's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan in 2018 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description
After learning of a real treasure mentioned in a letter written in Dorian Greek, Kassandra set out to search for the key to the treasure in a sunken temple.
Dialogue
Kassandra went to the Sunken Temple and got close.
- Kassandra: "Near a small island off the coast of Korfu"... I must be close to the sunken key.
Kassandra found the entrance underwater and swam through the caves until finding land again. She eventually found herself in the temple's remains.
- Kassandra: Must be near here...
Kassandra found the key on a ledge in the temple remains.
- Kassandra: Now to meet Herodotos at the professor's house. Hope they've found what this key unlocks.
Kassandra left the temple and went to the professors' house in Korkyra Polis. When she arrived, she found the house a mess and trashed.
- Kassandra: Maláka! What happened here? Where are they? Maybe I can find something useful.
Kassandra found a rusted sword in one of the buildings.
- Kassandra: A rusted sword. Only a pirate would use a blade like this. They must've attacked them here.
Kassandra found a broken sandal in the courtyard.
- Kassandra: No wonder this sandal broke, it was hardly held together. It must've come from a poor area of Korfu.
Kassandra found a rope in another building.
- Kassandra: Sailors use this kind of rope. It's poor quality, so not the type used by soldiers.Kassandra found track marks on the other side of the courtyard.
- Kassandra: Looks like they were dragged north of the city.
Kassandra followed the tracks to a nearby pirate warehouse and searched for them there.
- Kassandra: This must be the place... I'll check the warehouse.
Kassandra eventually infiltrated one of the buildings and found two empty wooden posts with rope around them.
- Kassandra: Maláka, they're not here. But there sure is a lot of marble. Maybe the pirates smuggle it out of the quarry. It's worth a try.
Kassandra traveled to and approached the Quarry of Korkyra.
- Kassandra: The quarry. I hope I find them here.
While there, Kassandra came across a body in chains against a blood-stained wall of marble.
- Kassandra: That body... no. No, it can't be! Is that Herodotos?
Kassandra picked up a note from the body.
Captain's Note
- After all this time, I've finally found the treasure - all thanks to your friends. But treasure is nothing without the key that imprisons it. I have the storyteller, and I'll spare his life if you hand over the key. Bring it to the mountain near the Overgrown Ruins, or the next dead body will be his. - The Captain
- Kassandra: Poor professor... I'll come back for you. But thank the gods it wasn't Herodotos. I have to find him.
Kassandra quickly made her way to the mountain and found Herodotos alone and tied up.
- Kassandra: There's Herodotos. I need to free him.
Kassandra freed Herodotos and the two shook hands. Herodotos noticed a figure behind Kassandra.
- Herodotos: Behind you!
Kassandra turned around and saw the pirate captain approach them on top of a small rock ledge.
- Captain: You want your friend to live? Hand it over.
- Kassandra: I don't know what you're talking about.
- Captain: He's a storyteller, misthios. He squealed like a hog. I want that key.
- Kassandra: You have plenty of bounty around the island. Why this treasure?
- Captain: Some treasure hunter you are. The most famous of all treasure hunters plundered the most valuable goods known to mortal man and hid them of Korfu. His name was lost to time, but his tale survived. He hid it away for the day his son would become a hunter like him and find the clues he left behind. But the fool died as only fools do, and the treasure turned to legend. Until now.
More pirates surrounded Kassandra and Herodotos.
- Captain: The key, or he dies. That's the bargain.
Herodotos shook his head at Kassandra weighed her options. She the tossed the captain the key.
- Kassandra: Take it.
- Herodotos: No! You don't know what the treasure contains!
The captain laughed and walked away.
- Captain: Have at them, boys.
The pirates attacked the duo but were quickly slayed by Kassandra.
- Herodotos: He can't get there first, hurry Kassandra!
Kassandra made her way to the top of the mountain but heard the captain gain his prize.
- Captain: At last! It's mine!
Kassandra reached the top and witnessed the captain massacre his men one by one.
- Captain: It's mine!
Kassandra saw the weapon he was using: an Apple of Eden.
- Kassandra: It's... another artifact? He'll go mad!
- Captain: Argh!
Kassandra attacked the mad captain.
- Captain: You want its power, don't you? I see the greed in your eyes.
Kassandra damaged him significantly.
- Captain: You'll only take this from my cold, dead hands!
Kassandra killed the captain and the Apple rolled away from his body, glowing. She approached it with her spear in hand. When she got close enough, her spear began glowing and shaking uncontrollably.
- Kassandra: Wha... what?
Kassandra tried to control her spear, and the Apple began spinning in place, both glowing harder.
- Kassandra: Ah!
Just then, then Apple launched itself far away from Kassandra and the spear to another place on the island. Kassandra looked down as her spear lost its light and sparked, forcing Kassandra to drop it. She picked it back up, but knew something was off and tried spinning it around. Not convinced after looking at it again, she let out a heavy sigh and threw her arm down in frustration.
Outcome
Kassandra's search for the treasure led her to an encounter with an Apple of Eden. After killing the pirate captain corrupted by its power, Kassandra's spear was disabled by the Apple before being launched away due it the overwhelming surge of power.
