"Look upon this land between realms. Look upon my uncaring face. Look upon my weapon. for these will be the last things you see, stranger."
―Riekr to Odin.[src]-[m]

Riekr was an Isu jötunn who operated as the leader of Suttungr's Outriders.

Biography

During Surtr's invasion of Svartálfaheimr, Riekr worked from inside the Ginnungagap. She used the land between realms as a way to transport Jotun soldiers into the home of the dwarves, specifically her group of Scouts named after Suttungr.[1]

When studying individuals that could be used to power the Salakar device, Calder mentioned Riekr as someone with a potent Hugr.

During the Æsir leader Odin's campaign to find and free his captured son Baldr he encountered Riekr's outriders, killing each of the scouts and retrieving the armor they all held a piece of. Wearing the armor, he entered Riekr's hideout within the Ginnungagap. Not expecting him, Riekr entered into combat with the Aesir, but was fatally defeated.[1]

Legacy and influence

Long after his passing, Eivor Varinsdottir, remembering her past life as Odin, viewed Riekr through the lens as a ice giant.

Behind the scenes

Riekr does not seem to be a figure derived from real-world Norse mythology. As the jötnar in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla are analogs of Isu represented as the Roman gods from previous titles in the franchise, she may have already been introduced under another name.
