The Denver International Airport satellite accident, or DIA satellite accident, was an incident that took place at Denver International Airport in the early 21st century, that resulted in a large number of deaths and the destruction of one of the First Civilizations Pieces of Eden - the Second Apple - which was held by Abstergo Industries at the time.

Dr. Warren Vidic was responsible for preparing the final report for the incident, which indicated that the Abstergo Project Lead at Denver had killed everyone there before the company's clean-up crew arrived.[1]

At least one civilian, believed to be a baggage handler, found out about the incident. By September 4th, 2012, this survivor was threatening to expose Abstergo's involvement in the event.[2]

Daniel Cross was somehow involved in the incident and escaped alive, but the event severly traumatized him and he refused to return to Denver for another assignment.[3]

Aftermath

The loss of the Piece of Eden meant Abstergo Industries could no longer launch their Eye-Abstergo satellite on schedule. In order to find a new Piece of Eden, Abstergo were obliged to place Desmond Miles in an Animus, in order to obtain the locations of other potential replacements.[1]
