The Armor of Altaïr was an unbreakable set of armor that was constructed by the Levantine Assassins' Mentor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad using knowledge obtained from an Apple of Eden. After his death, the armor was sealed in the Sanctuary beneath the Villa Auditore, where it was later recovered and used by another Assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Description
The armor's metal portions had a gold tint, while the leather was black or dark brown in coloring. Unlike most breastplates, which were usually made up of a single piece, the chest plate was made up of several overlapping plates. well...don't you all think that Armor of altair made from the same metal used to create piece of eden?(since the apple hold most if not all knowledge in this world)

maybe the armor is indestructable?(because i have read that only great destructable power such as tunguska explosion cappable to destroy POE...)so there is no chance the armor destroyed by cannon ball...

Canonically speaking, the Codex pages say that Altair forged the armor from a mundane alloy that was stronger than anything extant at the time (possibly an ultrastrong steel alloy, or something similar), but not from the material in a Piece of Eden. The armor is stated to be invincible, but that was only against the threats that were expected in 11th-century Israel. Thirty-pound balls of iron going 250 mph were probably not considered a possibility. Also, when playing as desmond at the start of brotherhood, You see a vision of Ezio doing the leap of faith, and I don't think that the leap of faither position was in Ezio's playable time, and he was wearing the armor of altilair, so I assume he went and got it back. As seen in the Cristina Memories, the armor was unlocked at Carnivale, which would mean Ezio unlocked the armor right after finding all the secret locations, and not between 1491-1497. Shouldn't we change it?

This sixth seal was found in 1486(thats when is unlockable and it can be found then)And so Ezio found the final seal in 1486 and since you can go the the Villa in the same year Ezio claimed the Armor in 1486.AdrianoAuditore

::Another proof and yet is complicated is in Assassins Creed Brotherhood, even tough Ezio does not wear the Armor at the Carnivale he has the sword of Altair,so therefore he unlocked the sixth seal in 1486,if he wasnt shown with the Armor on him it was because either Ubisoft did not decided to have him wear it either Ezio did not claim the armor yet,but he had the seal otherwise the Sword of Altair would not be purchasable. So the correct date is 1486.AdrianoAuditore 16:07, July 29, 2011 (UTC)
:::The noob has a point. The armour is obtainable in-game as early as 1486, which is what should be mentioned in the article. The easiest explanation for Ezio's not wearing the armour in Discovery would be that he, quite simply, didn't wear it in Spain. --<span style="color:#BF404D">Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record</span> 16:41, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

the robe part
I know the metal is from the Crusade-Era made by Altair and all that, but the robes arent in the style. Isn't it likely that the metal and protective parts were from Altair's time, and Ezio had the Montergionni tailor make him new clothes to wear with it or something? I posted this before, but someone removed it as "speculation" ... i think it's more likely though User:Eggy2504 17:07, 25 July, 2011

Revelations?
I wonder if the armor of altair will make an appearance in Revelations. I had a thought: what if there was a side mission in the game where Ezio went back to Monteriggioni and (spoiler alert) wrote the message on the wall and then retreaved the armor. He could the cloth replaced to have a constantiople look to it and still have the actual armor. So it is more like a recovered version of the armor. Tell me your thoughts. == Altair never used his Armor? ==

Please, in the Trivia section says that Altair states in his Codex that he never actually wore his set of Armor.. Could someone confirm that? Because in that Codex page related to his Armor there's no such statement.. only that he erased the formula.. that doesn't mean he never used it.

This article is about Altaïr's armor set. You may be looking for Altaïr's robes.
"It is possessed of great strength, yet so light to allow complete freedom..."
―Altaïr's description of the armor in the Codex, page 19.[src]-[m]
The Armor of Altaïr

The Armor of Altaïr was an unbreakable set of armor that was constructed by the Levantine Assassins' Mentor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad using knowledge obtained from an Apple of Eden. After his death, the armor was sealed in the Sanctuary beneath the Villa Auditore, where it was later recovered and used by another Assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Description[edit | edit source]

The armor's metal portions had a gold tint, while the leather was black or dark brown in coloring. Unlike most breastplates, which were usually made up of a single piece, the chest plate was made up of several overlapping plates. A black cloak accompanied the armor and seemed to be of a similar cut to Altaïr's regular Assassin robes.[1]

In addition to their dark colors, the robes were much longer than the ones Ezio would normally wear, and were made up of three layers. Each layer was longer than the one above it, and the longest, lower layer was segmented, giving the whole piece a look resembling an eagle's wings.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Middle Ages[edit | edit source]

Following Al Mualim's death, Altaïr took the Apple of Eden from him and adopted the rank of Mentor. He later constructed an unbreakable set of armor, using knowledge from the Piece of Eden, and chronicled its creation in his personal journal. There, he admitted to using the Apple to discover the properties of a new metal, which he had used to forge the armor. He also wrote about how he ultimately destroyed the armor's blueprints, fearing that it was too powerful to be recreated by either friend or foe.[2]

Renaissance[edit | edit source]

"Little is known about Altaïr's life, but his armor is light and very strong. I'd give it to you, but I don't know how to retrieve it. My great-grandfather told me it would remain locked away until all its protectors were made whole."
―Mario Auditore to Ezio, 1478.[src]-[m]

At some point following his death, Altaïr's armor came to be stored inside the Villa Auditore's sanctuary. It was locked behind a metal gate that could only be opened when all six Assassin Seals from the hidden Assassin Tombs around Italy were collected and placed on their respective statues.[1]

Ezio obtaining the armor

In 1478, as Ezio Auditore was becoming more devoted to the Assassin cause, his uncle Mario showed him the armor and told him about the Assassin Seals, encouraging him to seek them out himself.[3] Ezio eventually did so prior to 1497,[4] allowing him to unlock and claim the armor as his own. Because of its virtually unbreakable nature, the armor would become Ezio's main set of Assassin robes for a time, and he wore them during the Bonfire of the Vanities in Florence,[5] as well as during his confrontation with the Italian Templars' Grand Master Rodrigo Borgia in Rome.[6]

Following this, Ezio returned to Monteriggioni and gave the armor a place of pride in his bed chamber. However, with the sudden and unexpected siege of Monteriggioni on 2 January 1500, the armor was struck by a cannonball and was lost under the rubble, though part of its chest guard remained intact due to its indestructible nature.[7] Years later, after Cesare Borgia's death in 1507,[8] Ezio returned to the Villa and extracted the armor from the rubble. In 2012, his descendant Desmond Miles entered the Sanctuary and "saw" Ezio through the Bleeding Effect wearing the entire kit.[9]
