Temenos of Zeus Ainesios was a holy place dedicated to the Greek god Zeus located at the top of the tallest mountain in the Ancient Ruins of Kranioi in Kephallonia, Greece.

History[edit | edit source]

In Greek mythology, the temple was visited by two of Jason's Argonauts,, who prayed there for Zeus' aid in defeating the winged monsters known as Harpies.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the ruins and killed the wolves that had made the ruins their home.[1]
