The Hounds of Hades were demonic dogs used by the Isu Hades in the simulation of the Underworld to hunt down spirits who were denied passage by Charon across the river Styx. The Spartan misthios Kassandra encountered several of the hounds and slew them, as they were always hostile towards her.[1]

The hounds were also known to visit the Elysium Breach alcove, a rift in The Scorched Lands inadvertently created between Elysium and the Underworld due to Kassandra's actions. Kassandra travelled to the region in search of an Asphodel flower when tasked to help cure an Athenian woman who had died of plague. Kassandra found the plant in the rift, as well as the shade of Testikles who was also looking for it. However, his initial joy at reuniting with Kassandra and not being eaten was premature, as his spirit was soon set upon by the dogs and "killed" again.[2]

After his death, the specter of Kleon appeared before Hades on the Passage of Souls. Immediately upon his arrival, he was assaulted by the hounds and dragged away.[3]

Trivia[edit | edit source]
