Erymanthos Foothills

The Erymanthos Foothills formed the northern region of Elis, Greece.

According to Greek mythology, the mountainous area was regarded as a place where centaurs lived.^[1] True enough, while on his way to find the Erymanthian Boar, Herakles met the centaurs Pholos^[2] and Chiron.^[1]

By the time of the Peloponnesian War, the Erymanthian Boar lived in the region, and terrorized its surroundings until the Spartan misthios Kassandra found and slew it.^[3]
