Berlin is the capital and largest city of Germany.
History[edit | edit source]
Unification period[edit | edit source]
In 1854, the Aurora Equestrian Troupe successfully performed in the city as acrobat Pierrette Arnaud searched for any sight or mention of Simeon Price.[1]
World War II[edit | edit source]
In September 1942, both Nazi agent Otto Hammerstein and undercover spy Eddie Gorm attended a Nazi party, held by Otto's boss, Gero Kramer, at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Anthropology, Human Heredity, and Eugenics. There, Gorm was called in by Kramer, who challenged his character and reason of being part of the German forces. Luckily, he convinced Kramer of his hatred towards England's government for letting his whole family die and their disrespect for his services. After the party, Gorm lost his control until he was visited by his handler, Julia Dusk, who advised him to keep his cool and to extract Kramer's guest, Werner Heisenberg.[2]
The next day, with Gorm and Hammerstein in attendance at the Kaiser-Wilhelmina Institute of Chemistry, Kramer introduced his honored guest Heisenberg, due to his work on the Uranprojekt. However, fed up with his ruse, Gorm stabbed Otto and took Werner hostage in front of the party guests. Interrogating Heisenberg within his lab, Gorm was told that his work was all lies and that the funding was from a donor called Abstergo and it was going towards another machine called Die Glocke, which was located underneath a factory in Norway. Yet, Gorm was soon blindsided by Werner and the incoming soldiers under Otto.[2]
Luckily, Gorm was saved by Julia as they escaped, after Gorm killed Otto. However, Julia was injured as Gorm awaited for the getaway ride. Saved by both Boris Pash and Robert Burton, they soon arrived at an abandoned bar, El Dorado. While Burton worked to save Dusk, Pash informed of the real reason for Gorm's involvement as he was descended from a line of Assassins. Revealing himself and Burton as fellow Assassins, Pash and Gorm discussed Kramer's real plans and his true nature as a Templar. With limited choices, Pash agreed to train Gorm as an Assassin and to infiltrate the Vemork factory in Norway.[2]
On 30 April 1945, Adolf Hitler executed his body double inside the Führerbunker and planned to meet Winston Churchill with the Apple of Eden at a rendezvous point. However, upon leaving the bunker, Hitler was killed by Assassins. When Hitler had not been heard from in 3 days after missing the rendezvous, Templar agents in the city reported to the Abstergo Corporation that they suspected something had gone awry and requested further instructions.[3]
Modern times[edit | edit source]

In 2017, the Assassins Arend and Galina traveled to Berlin to confront Heinrich Hart, an Abstergo engineer and Assassin mole. Hart had provided Galina's team with intel on an Abstergo lab in Hong Kong, which was raided by Charlotte de la Cruz and Barindra Mitra's Assassin cell. The raid ended in disaster when Instruments of the First Will attacked and massacred the Assassins, leaving only Charlotte and Guernica Moneo as survivors. Hart tries to reason with the Assassins, insisting that Kiyoshi had pushed too hard for the intel and that the Templars and the Black Cross were digging into the raid investigation. Arend and Galina subsequently left after giving him a warning.[4]
Soon after, Hart was confronted by the Black Cross and Inner Sanctum member Juhani Otso Berg, who uncovered his treacherous activities. Knowing he had nowhere else to run, Hart attempted to attack Berg with his whip weapon but was swiftly defeated by the Templar. Left with no other options, Hart revealed his true identity as an Instrument and detonate an experimental, quarter-kiloton "endgame" grenade to kill them both, although Berg survived by jumping into the river below through a window.[4] Hart's grenade detonation claimed the lives of 170 people.[5]
