A Sync Nexus was a state during which the memories of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and Desmond Miles all converged. Desmond was told how to find a sync nexus by Subject 16 inside the Animus Black Room. This was necessary to prevent Desmond's mind from being shatter by the bleeding effect completely, as well as to wake him up from his coma.
Desmond eventually achieved this state by reliving all the remaining available memories of Ezio and Altaïr that he had not been through. Jupiter, one of Those Who Came Before spoke to Desmond inside the nexus, revealing all that humanity and the First Civilization has faced up to that point, and may face in the future.
After that, the Animus scheduled both Desmond and Subject 16 for deletion, though 16 jumped in front of Desmond and saved his life, however ending his own in the process. Once the Black Room and the Animus itself was purged of all data, Desmond escaped and woke up from his coma, telling his fellow Assassins, "I know what we need to do."
