Background
After the An Lushan Rebellion broke out, An Lushan suppressed the Hebei counties by force and crossed the Yellow River. After his beloved son An Qingzong was executed, he launched a new round of offensive against the Tang army. After defeating Chenliu and Xingyang, An Lushan marched into Luoyang.
After learning of An Lushan's rebellion, Tang Xuanzong was furious. Feng Changqing was ordered to enter the court and promised to present the head of the traitor to Xuanzong.
