Aguilar's Apple of Eden is an Apple of Eden, an ancient piece of technology created by the Isu, primarily to control humankind, their workforce.
During the 15th century, it came into the possession of the Sultan of the Emirate of Granada, Muhammad XII, though it did not help him win his conflict against the Christian kingdoms of Iberia, Castile and Aragon. When the Spanish Inquisition under the command of Grand Inquisitor Tomás de Torquemada, a leading Templar, caught wind of Muhammad XII's treasure, they abducted his son to used as ransom for the artifact, only to be promptly deprived of it by the intervention of the Assassins Aguilar de Nerha and Maria. From Aguilar, the Apple was in turn transferred to the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus for safekeeping, and the man who would go on to expose the existence of the Americas to all of Europe would retain it until his death, bringing it to his grave.
In October 2016, the Apple was among many Pieces of Eden sought after by the Templars. They hoped that this particular Apple could provide the means to suppress humanity's violent tendencies, eliminate the free will of humanity altogether, and finally eradicate the last of the Assassin Brotherhood with the end of the Creed itself. Though Alan Rikkin, CEO of Abstergo Industries and a member of the Templar Inner Sanctum successfully recovered it from Columbus's tomb at the Seville Cathedral, he was killed by Callum Lynch, a descendant of Aguilar, while presenting it in London to the Council of Elders, whereupon possession of the Apple passed back to the Assassins.
Description
The Apple of Eden that came into Aguilar de Nerha's possession is a small, metallic sphere encased within a large protective shell that (when properly illuminated by sunlight) resembles amber and is semi-transparent (but when improperly illuminted by sunlight, it looks much closer to its in-game counterparts). Even with this protective shell removed, the artifact is still operational (and its effects are neither diminished, nor altered, in any way), except that onlookers can still see the Apple opening when it activates.
History
The first known human to possess the Apple was Muhammad XII of Granada. In 1492, The Templars kidnapped the young prince Ahmed in order to obtain the Apple. An exchange between the monarch and Torquemada was offered, his son for the Apple. Muhammad XII of Granada accepted the Templars' exchange.
After Tomás de Torquemada possessed the Apple, the pair of assassin's attacked. As Aguilar held his blade on Torquemada's throat, he discovered that Ojeda had his own on Maria's. A standoff ensued that resulted in the death of Maria. After the assassination of Ojeda, Aguilar escaped from Torquemada and his men with the Apple. Aguilar gave the Apple to Assassin ally Christopher Columbus, who took it out of the Templars reach as he set sail for the New World. Columbus kept the Apple until his death, at which the Piece of Eden accompanied his remains back to Spain where they were buried.
In 2016, the Apple was found by the Templars after they used Callum Lynch to relive Aguilar's memories. After the Assassins broke out of the Templar facility, they set out to recover the artifact. Alan Rikkin went to the sanctuary in London to speak to the Council of Elders, to whom he unveiled the Apple of Eden. Callum Lynch blended in with the crowd of attendants to quietly sneak up to Alan Rikkin and assassinate him with his Hidden Blade. Callum then took the Apple back and made his escape.

Trivia
- When Rikkin presents Aguilar's Apple to the Council, it is seen emitting an eerie bright green energy, which is a stark contrast to the Apples seen in the video games (which emit a radiant bright golden yellow energy). This reason for this has yet to be stated.
