The Battle of Monmouth was an event that took place during the American Revolutionary War between the British Army and the Continental Army in Monmouth, on the Frontier. The Colonial Assassin, Ratonhnhaké:ton, participated in this battle. The battle took place on 28 June 1778.Ratonhnhaké:ton, and Laffayette were conversing about Lee when Connor noticed the Americans in full retreat. To help with the retreat, Connor took charge of several men and a cannon covering the Patriot retreat. Connor also succeeded in covering the American retreat and also helped saved numerous colonists' lives from being shot by redcoats. After the battle, a disgrunted Connor wanted Washington to have Lee killed. Instead, what Washington arranged for was a court martial in light of Lee's disobedience.Ratonhnhaké:ton, leaves in a huff, swearing that Lee will die by his own hands. The battle became notorious for the heat. Soldiers on both sides were reported to have collapsed from heat stroke due to the excess heat.
