The Solar Dynamics Observatory was an observatory in Atlantis responsible for keeping track of the developing situation of solar instability.

It was already set up and running by the Isu Cycle of 40.238, when they made a report noting unusual electromagnetic activity on the sun's photosphere. Further reports were made on cycles 41.267, 42.149, 43.331 and 44.160.[1]

On cycle 44.160 their predictions on plasma release were presented at the summit of the three Sister Realms to less-than-stellar results. Hermes Trismegistus, Persephone's High Scientist and Engineer, stormed off, leaving the delegation appealing to Hades himself, who they noted "seemed almost pleased at the thought of annihilation".[2]
