The Second Apple is a Piece of Eden, a piece of ancient but technologically advanced equipment created by Those Who Came Before to control human-kind, their workforce.
Use: Designed to create illusions and control mens minds; can presumably be used in conjunction with the Staff.
Status: Caught in an explosive satellite malfunction. Possibly survived and either fell to Earth, where it's whereabouts would be unknown, or flew into space, where it would be impossible to retrieve.
Neutral ownership: Those Who Came Before, Elizabeth I of England[1], Mahatma Gandhi.[2]
Assassin associated ownership: None.
Templar associated ownership: Assassin of Gandhi.
History
The first known human possessor of the Second Apple was Elizabeth I of England[1], an important monarch in 16th century England who succeeded her sister Mary I and reversed her re-establishment of the Roman Catholic Church in England. It is unknown how or where she acquired the Second Apple, although it's possible, even likely, that it was handed down through the line of monarchs before her.
What is known that it would eventually pass into the hands of Mahatma Gandhi[2], who presumably used it to acquire a large religious following in India during the early 20th century. However, the Templars learned that he had the Second Apple, so they had him murdered on 30 January 1948, so they could recover it.[3]
By the 1960s, The Templars had both the first and second Apples, and both were used in the Kennedy assassination. William Greer, the secret service agent assigned to drive the president's motorcade, was trained in the use of the Second Apple, and was instructed to grab the Third Apple after the president was killed.[4]
Although the Templars used or acquired at least four apples during the 1960s, it is unknown if they still possess any of them. As of 2012, they are using the Animus program to search for the locations of another to use in their planned satellite. It is hinted by an email in Assassins Creed that the Second Apple was the one which was used and destroyed in the Denver International Airport Incident.
