Paulino Massa was an Italian Jesuit priest and a Templar who lived in Japan during the late Sengoku period.

Biography

In 1560, Paulino Massa established a relationship with daimyō Imagawa Ujizane and recruited him into the Templar Order.[1] He then promised to take charge on their plans against the Oda clan and his vassal Matsudaira.[2] Thus, Massa and Ujizane detained Matsudaira's wife Lady Tsukiyama and their children Nobuyasu and Kamehime at Ujizane' mansion to leverage power over Matsudaira.[1]
