Odysseus' Palace was a palace situated on Ithaka, said to be the personal residence of Odysseus, the hero in Homer's epic poem Odyssey.
History[edit | edit source]
When the Trojan War broke out, Odysseus left the palace to his son's supervision before he set out to Troy. He would then return to the palace after 20 years.[1]
In 431 BCE, the palace was visited by the misthios Kassandra, who was sent by Elpenor to retrieve the Shroud of Penelope.[2] While recovering the shroud, Kassandra came across a descendant of Odysseus, Odessa, who was held captive in a cage by the bandits who had taken over the ruins. After freeing her, Kassandra accompanied the adventurer in exploring the ruins, before escorting her to the beach safely.[3]
Around the same time, Kassandra also found one of the Ainigmata Ostraka within the Palace.[4]
