Troy was an ancient Greek city formerly located in the northwest of Asia Minor in modern-day Anatolia, Turkey. The city was featured prominently in Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey, which described the Trojan War, waged by the Greeks following Paris' abduction of Helen of Sparta.[1]

According to Greek mythology, the inciting incident of the conflict was a beauty competition between Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena, with Paris acting as the judge. The victor was offered a golden apple by Eris,[1] which in truth was an Apple of Eden and served as the catalyst for the war.[2]
