Emblem of the Order of the Ancients

The Grand Maegester of the Order of the Ancients was the leader of the Order of the Ancients members. This Order member is evidentially seen to oversee all of their branches and their actions. In 9th century England, the Grand Maegester was noted to be part of a line of succession of the royal family, passed down as inheritance to the next in line. However, the last noted English Grand Maegester, King Aelfred, worked within his Order and helped brought about its deterioration in 878.

Behind the Scenes

The title of Grand Maegester is a prelude to the current title of the Templars, the Grand Master.
