During the 9th century, an excavation site was set up west of the Abbasid capital of Baghdad. It was set up atop an Isu vault, with the operation oversaw by the Order of the Ancients scholar Fazil Fahim al-Kemsa.[1]
In the 860s, the Order inveigled the scholar Ahmad ibn Musa into aiding in the excavation efforts at the site.[2]
