Parmys was the wife of an engineer in Patrai who lived during the 5th century BCE.
Biography
During the Peloponnesian War, Parmys' husband was employed by Phila, the Magi of the Order of the Storm, to work on a devastating weapon for her warship, the Skylla. In order to keep Parmys safe, the engineer was forced to comply and work under her, while under the supervision of Megakreon, a member of the Order of the Storm.[1]
Around 422 BCE, Parmys was present in the city's amphitheater, giving a speech to the city's residents with her husband in the attendance. Later however, her husband was killed by Megakreon and his guards, having discovered the engineer's treachery by providing the misthios Kassandra the whereabouts of the weapon blueprints. Nevertheless, the engineer's death was avenged when Kassandra arrived shortly thereafter and eliminate Megakreon and his guards with the help of Darius.[2]
Parmys, having witnessed this, approached Kassandra, informing her that her husband had hidden code books throughout the shipyard and Achaia that would allow Kassandra to install the weapon on her ship.[3]
