Medea is a figure appearing in the Greek myths.

When Jason abandoned her and their sons, Mermeros and Pheres, to court the daughter of the King of Korinthia, Glauke, Medea slew the boys. Afterwards, she gave Glauke a poisoned cape causing the woman to throw herself into a fountain that since bore her name.[1]

Influence

During the Peloponnesian War the Daughters of Artemis named one of their campsites within the Valley of the Pegasos in Korinthia after her.[1]

When Alkibiades fell ill at the 428 BCE Olympic Games, Barnabas said that the man looked "like [he] drank from Medea's cup", referencing the story of how Medea attempted to kill the hero Theseus by giving him a cup of poison to drink.[2]
