Jupiter, previously known as Tinia, was a member of the First Civilization. After his passing, along with the other First Civilization beings, he continued to influence humanity and many famous buildings and temples have been dedicated to him. As Jupiter appeared as a god to normal humans, that's what they saw him as. The Romans knew him as Jupiter and the Greeks knew him as Zeus. He was mentioned by Minerva, also a member of the First Civilization, during her warning to Desmond Miles.

Later, following the fragmentation of Desmond's mind, Jupiter spoke with him at the Synch Nexus, informing him of the final days of the First Civilization, and the reason for the creation of the Vaults.
