Old Inn of the Fifty Emblems

The Old Inn of the Fifty Emblems was an inn located in Ise Province, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1562, Tsuyu ventured to Ise after vowing to investigate the Templars' business in forcing locals into slavery. With Momochi Sandayu's advice, she arrived at the inn to meet his contact to inquire about any information on the Templars' presence. While there, she eavesdropped on multiple conversations but found no inkling. When she was engaged by a local drunkard, they were both startled by the one-armed rōnin Kuroiwa Gonjou-rou, whom the drunk insulted. When Gonjou-rou attacked and threatened the man, he later left the man scared while going towards his room.[1]
An innkeeper soon questioned Tsuyu's presence here and wanted to know why she is here. Immediately, Fujibayashi Masayasu came and interrupted them by telling him that he and his wife were on the honeymoon[1] and performers. While the innkeeper left, Tsuyu was shocked at the insinuation before Mayasasu explained it would provide more freedom to act as an couple. Thus, for their cover, Tsuyu and Mayasayu performed in front of the other patrons and grew closer together. At one point, they found a figure matching Sandayu's description. After uttering the code, they met privately with the informant.[2]
Alone, Tsuyu and Mayasayu learned of the Templars' base in Mikawa, where Jesuit missionary Paulino Massa led them. He also informed them of a slavery operation at the bay nearby. While they thanked them before leaving, the informant was actually a fraud that killed Sandayu's contact and was planted by the Templars. While going to their room, Tsuyu ultimately decided to go to the port alone, despite Masayasu's objections. In the middle of night, Tsuyu left the inn secretly before Mayasayu could discover her departure.[2]
