Atos the Beast Caller (died c. 422 BCE) was a Melian mercenary who operated in Achaia, Greece during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

Atos originated from the island of Melos, where he was involved in his family business of defending ships along the trade routes of Melos. Although he was well paid, he ultimately chose to leave his career and raid the ships for wealth for himself.[1]

Around 422 BCE, Atos was hired by the magi of the Order of the Storm Phila in Achaia. He was assigned to patrol the port city of Patrai in search of Darius, his son Natakas and the misthios Kassandra. That year, he was eliminated by Kassandra who had discovered the Order's usage of the mercenaries to do their bidding.[2]
