A Spear of Eden is a Piece of Eden created by the Isu in the manner of spears. Since the fall of the Isu, the Spears have been most commonly used by influential humans in war and conquest.
Powers
The Spears of Eden's powers are as varied as their shapes and designs. Gungnir, the personal spear of the Æsir leader Odin, could project force fields to protect its wielder, but was not known to possess any other special abilities, functioning as a regular spear.[2]
Meanwhile, the Spear of Leonidas famously granted a myriad of powers, including enhanced strength and stamina, temporary invisibility, healing, and the ability to harness natural elements such as poison and fire. It could also charge arrows with explosive energy, produce shockwaves, and augment arrows so they could phase through walls.[3]

This spear was created by the Isu weaponsmith Hephaestus at his forge on what would become the Greek island of Andros.[4] Initially used in the War of Unification,[5] it later wound up in the hands of King Leonidas I of Sparta,[6] who received the spear as a gift from his mother.[7] Following Leonidas' death at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BCE, Spartan soldiers retrieved the broken spear from the battlefield and gave it to his daughter, Myrrine, who later passed it down to her own daughter, Kassandra.[8]
As a mercenary during the Peloponnesian War, Kassandra made regular use of the spear and its advanced abilities she could access through her Isu blood, becoming her signature weapon.[3] After finding Hephaestus' old forge on Andros Island, Kassandra began regularly upgrading the spear using Artifact Fragments recovered from slain members of the Cult of Kosmos.[4]
In 420 BCE, the spear lost its power after Kassandra came into contact with an Apple of Eden on Korfu,[9] and was subsequently given to her friend Herodotos as a parting gift before Kassandra left Greece.[10] It briefly resurfaced in Italy during the Renaissance, when the Assassin Alessandra d'Avanzago prevented the Templars from obtaining it,[11] and again in 2018, when it was found buried alongside Herodotos' book Lost Histories by Layla Hassan.[12]
Layla extracted Kassandra's DNA from the spear and used it to relive the mercenary's genetic memories in the Animus to find the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus.[12] She then kept the spear for the following two years, until sacrificing herself to save the Earth from a series of global anomalies in 2020. The artifact currently remains in the Assassins' possession, having last been seen with Basim Ibn Ishaq in North America.[1]
Gungnir

The personal spear and signature weapon of Odin, Gungnir was crafted by the dwarven blacksmiths Brokkr and Sindri at the request of Loki during his travels in Svartálfaheimr.[13] Odin wielded the spear until his demise during the Great Catastrophe, after which Gungnir became stuck in a defunct door near the chamber housing the Yggdrasil supercomputer, used by Odin and other Æsir to incarnate themselves as humans.[14]
In 877 CE, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir, Odin's rebirth, found Gungnir while exploring the Goinnhellir cavern on her way to the Yggdrasil chamber with her adoptive brother, Sigurd Styrbjornsson. Recognizing the spear from her visions of Odin and the tales of Norse mythology, Eivor retrieved Gungnir from the door and chose to keep it for herself, occasionally wielding the spear in battle.[15]
Behind the scenes
In the Assassin's Creed Crossover Stories update for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Eivor can acquire an intact Spear of Leonidas from a treasure chest on the Isle of Skye. However, considering that the spear should be broken at this point in time, its inclusion in the game is likely non-canon and for gameplay purposes only.
