The Third Apple was a Piece of Eden, a piece of ancient and technologically advanced equipment created by the First Civilization to control humankind, their workforce.

George Washington was a Freemason (as well as a number of Founding Fathers), as well being the first President of the United States, indicating that it was passed on to the successor of the position. It later came into possession of Franklin D. Roosevelt,[2] who had teamed up with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin as leaders of the Allied Forces in the fabrication of World War II.[4]
It eventually ended up in the hands of John F. Kennedy, whom the Templars viewed as a threat as he was in favor of giving the working force more civil liberties.[3] The driver in the motorcade, under the influence of the Second Apple, took the Third Apple after Kennedy had been assassinated.[3]
After this it presumably fell under Templar control, as Presidential successor Lyndon B. Johnson is named a Templar by Subject 16,[5] who was able to push for the Apollo 11 space ship to reach the Moon and retrieve the Piece of Eden there without opposition.[5]
