Farm of Elais

The Farm of Elais was a farm located on the eastern coast of Kynthos Hills in Delos, Greece.

During the Peloponnesian War the misthios Kassandra explored the place, finding it occupied by military forces.[1] It was also the place where the Athenian polemarch Neokles had fled to and was hiding in after deserting the Athenian army.[2]

Trivia

  • The name of the farm is a reference to a minor goddess Elais, a daughter of Delos' mythical founder and ruler Anios. The name itself is derived from Ancient Greek word Ἐλαΐς, which means 'seed'. Elais was revered as the goddess of oil.
