Bunkichi's severed head

Bunkichi (文吉, died 1560) was a young villager from Iga, Japan. In 1560, he was killed by two samurai, who cut off his head and brought it back to his village in an attempt to intimidate its inhabitants into paying them tribute. The sight of Bunkichi's severed head terrified the villagers, including Bunkichi's mother, but Fujibayashi Masayasu decided to confront them, and ultimately defeated the two samurai with help from Hattori Hanzō.[1]
