Salamis Marbe Quarry was an Athenian marble quarry located on the Isle of Salamis, Greece during the 5th century BCE.
History[edit | edit source]
The quarry was owned by the family of Brison, a member of the Delian League branch of the Cult of Kosmos, and following the Cult's demand for him to kill the Athenian sculptor Phidias,[1] Brison withdrew to the quarry.[2]
During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra infiltrated the quarry, killing Brison[3] and finding one of the Ainigmata Ostraka within.[4]
