Doom Eagle is an international criminal organization based in Southeast Asia. Led by the Assassin Nathan Zhang, it often worked alongside the Zhawang Corporation led by Nathan's relative Claire Zhang, handling the company's "dirty work".
History
Activities in Macau
In 2023, the Zhawang Corporation learned about Noa Kim, a Korean-American college student and descendant of the Corporation's founder Edward Kenway. Regarding Noa as a member of their "family", Nathan and Claire worked together to try and rescue him following Noa's abduction by Abstergo Industries, who sought to use Noa's genetic memories to find a Piece of Eden.[1]
During Noa's trip with the Templar Shimazu Sei to the A-Ma Cultural Village in Macau, Nathan dispatched several thugs to serve as a distraction while two of Claire's agents approached Noa. The thugs attacked Sei and killed her bodyguards, but before they could execute the Templar, they were defeated by Noa, who had declined the agents' offer to be rescued.[2]
Sometime later, Nathan and several of his gang members watched as the Exitus research vessel, which Noa was held aboard, left Macau. Suspecting the ship was heading to the Philippines, where his organization had a foothold, Nathan snatched away the phone of a Zhawang Corporation agent to speak with Claire and ask her to let him handle Noa's rescue. Claire was reluctant given Nathan's history of "blowing things out of proportion", but ultimately conceded.[1]
Ambush in Cebu
Following the Exitus to Cebu, Nathan had several of his men survey the Abstergo convoy containing Noa and Sei from a distance as to avoid detection. After the convoy left the Basilica del Santo Niño, the gang members decided to initiate their rescue operation and manipulated the traffic to force the convoy to travel through an alternate route. Once the convoy reached an empty street, Doom Eagle used a truck to block its path before gang members emerged from the surrounding buildings and opened fire on the Abstergo vehicles.[3]
The car containing Noa, Sei and the latter's bodyguard Yuki was able to escape through an alley, prompting several Doom Eagle thugs to give chase on motorcycles. However, one of the bikers was gunned down by Yuki, while another saw Noa inside the car and lowered his gun, not wishing to harm him.[4]
After the Abstergo car reached a shopping mall, Nathan crashed into it with a truck, causing the car to fly into a water fountain. He then emerged from the truck with his men and opened fire on the wrecked car. Upon seeing Noa and Sei run into the mall, Nathan and his thugs followed them inside and knocked out the security guards at the entrance. Nathan was then informed by one of his men that Abstergo reinforcements were on their way, meaning they had only a few minutes to find Noa and Sei.[4]
Nathan was amused by the idea of a "hide and seek game with a time limit" and ordered his men to search the mall for Noa. He also instructed them to use only non-lethal melee weapons as to avoid civilian casualties, and to kill Sei if they found her.[4] Though several thugs soon managed to locate Sei, they were dispatched by Noa. Watching from a balcony, Nathan was impressed and decided to "kick things up a notch" by firing his pistol into the air. This caused the civilians to panic, believing there were terrorists inside the mall.[5]
