Diokles (died c. 420s BCE) was a large Greek man fighting for Athens in the battle for the Silver Islands during the Peloponnesian War.
He was the brother of Podarkes, the so-called King of the Silver Islands, and as such, the uncle of Kyra.
Biography
During the 420s BCE, Diokles participated in the battle for the Silver Islands, where he clashed against the misthios Kassandra, who fought alongside the Spartans led by Herodianos.[1] Kassandra killed Diokles, and found a letter from Podarkes on his corpse. The letter revealed that Diokles had been charged by Podarkes to bring Kassandra in, alive if possible, as well as confirming Diokles' own connection to the Cult of Kosmos.[2] This was also confirmed by a letter to Podarkes from another member of the Delian League branch of the Cult, Kodros.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the gameplay video showcased by Ubisoft at the Electronic Entertainment Expo of 2018, Kyra's message to Kassandra mentions Diokles instead of Podarkes: "We are a small but fierce group of rebels who'd pay you handsomely to help us overthrow our Athenian oppressors. A warrior named Diokles fights with them. None who face him survive." Barnabas and Kassandra also discuss Diokles shortly in the gameplay video. Kyra also mentions that "-Diokles fights with the fury of Ares!"
If any of the quests for Lysander are active, killing Diokles counts as killing an ordinary Athenian polemarch and yields one of the seals.
