The shipwreck on the surface

The Shipwreck of Dionysos and the Pirate was a shipwreck near the southern shore of Naxos Island, Greece.

According to the myth, this was where the god Dionysos sank the pirates who had kidnapped him by trapping their ship in ivy vines and turning them into dolphins.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra explored the site, finding within the depths finery featuring a star for the ship Adrestia.[2]
